small-businessAetna, a large health insurance company is getting set to launch a new small business plan in Chicago, Illinois. In the plan, members will be provided health insurance to seek medical treatment from hospitals and health care providers in their area. Aetna will be giving members a break in cost, up to 25% less than the plans already given to other small groups with benefits that are similar.

“Small business” is considered to be a company with no more than 50 employees. It’s great to see small businesses get a break, especially with the hard economic times they are facing. With the large companies taking over and smaller business feeling the blunt of the hardship, it’s about time the small businesses are taken into consideration by health insurance companies. For small businesses, providing insurance for their employees is the last thing they can afford, and giving them a chance to focus on business, I’m sure, is a relief. It can only help the economy.

Known as the Illinois Community Plan, Aetna will be providing insurance to members through brokers and the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (where anyone can get coverage through this group.)
