audi-carSearching for affordable auto insurance can be a time consuming task. Many consumers still feel that it’s a lot easier to just pick up the phone and call 411 for an insurance broker for a quote.

Save your $1.99 411 fee - you’re better off searching for your own car insurance policy and comparing quotes on your own for free.  The process is simple and you don’t even have to pick up the phone and wait on hold for 20 or 30 minutes in queue for the next agent.

You can find quotes and compare quotes right on the Internet.  Many people are actually still hesitant about getting their car insurance on their own online. They are afraid that somehow they’ll make a huge mistake and be over charged by the insurance company.  The following are a few steps in finding a good insurance company on the Internet—safely.

-The first thing that you will want to do is search for reliable insurance companies.  Simply go to any of the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc.).

- Don’t settle for the first listing that pops up on the page.  You should visit more than one site (at least 3 to 4 websites) before making a decision on whom to purchase insurance with.

- Most websites offer instant quotes via chat or email. If the insurance company’s live chat feature is not available, it will default to email.  Most companies give quotes immediately and some take a bit longer.  So, allow at least up to 24 hours to receive a quote.

-    Only choose reliable insurance companies such as Geico, Progressive, Safe Auto, etc.  Also, there are many reliable mom and pop insurance companies, so don’t neglect your local insurance companies.

See, how easy it is to find car insurance on the Internet - it doesn’t have to be a hassle after all.
