Daily Insurance Trivia: Cost of Insuring NFL Players Will Continue to Increase
Written by Mark on December 1st, 2008 in Daily Insurance Trivia.
If it weren’t enough that the Jets are actually having a good season (of course the Giants will still have the better record), Plaxico Burress decided to go ahead and shoot himself in the leg. Whether this was accidental or not remains to be seen and I suspect that we’ll be peeling layers off this story for some time. What we should note however, is that this gunshot should be added to the non-fatal work injuries from accidental gunshot wounds list that the Bureaur of Labor Statistics does not keep. They keep the fatal list, of which there were 175 fatalities from gunshot wounds from 1993 to 2002. I’m sure the Giants owners are just salivating at paying higher insurance premiums (which any self-respecting business would do in terms of purchasing key-man insurance). You don’t need to worry about Eli Manning though. I have a good feeling about him. Antonio Pierce on the other hand… Well, it looks like he wanted to be next in line.

Unfortunately, this really isn’t very surprising in the NFL.
